Game basics

In Battle Tactics: Rome vs Gauls, two players face off in a two-player historical strategy card game set in the Gallic Wars. Deploy units and tactics across three terrains, time your battle initiation, and claim terrain to score Victory Points.

Battlefield & terrain

Shuffle 9 terrain cards; for each battle reveal 3 in a row (Left, Center, Right). Terrain may grant modifiers and is worth 1 VP when claimed.

Deployment & combinations

Players alternate turns. On your turn you may:

  • Deploy 1 unit, or a legal combination (2–3 cards using the flag icons), or

  • Place 1 card to Reserve (max 3; 1 may be face-down).
Flags: the top flag shows unit type (light/heavy infantry, ranged, light/heavy cavalry). Middle flags show which unit types it can combine with. Tactic cards indicate which unit they attach to and may link otherwise incompatible units.

Two faction decks

Each player uses a 34-card faction deck (Rome or Gauls).
Draw 5 cards to start. After each battle, draw back up to 5.

Winning

Play up to 3 battle rounds (uses all 9 terrain). Count claimed terrains = Victory Points. Most VP wins.
Tie: play one extra battle using unclaimed/discarded terrain; add new VP to totals to determine the winner.

Unique art of 5 different military manuevers
