As someone deeply fascinated by history and mythology, creating the theme for Pantheon WAR was a natural and exciting process. The idea of an epic clash between the gods, heroes, and monsters of different mythologies felt not only thrilling but also meaningful. My vision was to design a game that would be easy to learn and play, making it accessible for everyone, including kids. I hoped it might even inspire curiosity about history and ancient cultures in younger players.

Choosing the Four Pantheons

When I began selecting which mythologies to include, I naturally gravitated toward some of the most well-known and influential ones: Norse, Greek, and Egyptian. These mythologies are rich with legendary tales, iconic gods, and mythical creatures that resonate with people worldwide.

But as someone from Central-Eastern Europe, I felt compelled to include Slavic mythology as well. It’s a treasure trove of fascinating stories and unique deities, yet it often goes unnoticed or underrepresented in games and media. Adding Slavic mythology was a personal touch, a way to spotlight something close to my heritage while also introducing it to a broader audience.

With these four pantheons—Norse, Slavic, Greek, and Egyptian—I had a solid foundation for the game. Each pantheon brings its own flavor and character to the gameplay, offering a mix of familiarity and discovery for players.

Why Not Include More Pantheons?

Initially, I dreamed big. If this game was about an epic clash of gods, why not include as many mythologies as possible? I explored adding Sumerian mythology, with its ancient tales of creation and powerful deities. I looked to the Americas, considering the Mayan and Aztec mythologies, and to Africa, where the Yoruba religion holds a wealth of spiritual narratives. In Asia, the Hindu and Shinto traditions offered rich and diverse possibilities.

However, I quickly realized that including every mythology from around the world would complicate the game beyond what I originally envisioned. I wanted Pantheon WAR to remain simple, fast-paced, and accessible. So, I returned to my core idea: a focus on the four pantheons that provide a balanced mix of the well-known and the lesser-known.

Learning Through Play

To enrich the experience, I created simple reference pages for each of the four featured mythologies. These pages provide bite-sized information about the gods, heroes, and myths represented in the game. My hope is that players will not only enjoy the battles but also gain an appreciation for the incredible stories and cultures behind them.

Pantheon WAR is still a work in progress, and I’m continuously refining it to make it as engaging and fun as possible. Whether you’re a mythology enthusiast or new to these ancient tales, I hope this game sparks your curiosity and leaves you wanting to learn more about the fascinating world of myths and legends.

Stay tuned for updates as I continue to develop Pantheon WAR!
